Assist Clients with Medications – Sunshine Coast Public Courses now Available!
If you work in the community service or health services sectors and are required to assist with the administration of medication, then this course is for you.
The HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication course covers the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and provide medication assistance to a variety of clients and to support a client to self-administer their medication using the relevant mode of administration. It also involves reading, understanding, and accurately completing medication documentation such as care plans and medical charts after administration of medication.
Participants will learn about the importance of checking and confirming the care plan and details, client identity, correct medication including expiry dates, dosage instructions, correct dosage. And conducting pre and post administration client checks, cleaning equipment, and disposal and storage of medications according to organisation procedures.
The skills in this course apply to community services and health workers with authority in their state or territory to assist with the administration of medication and must be used in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.
This course would interest individuals working in various care and support roles within the community and health services sector, who wish to develop their skills in supporting people to self-administer medication and completing medication documentation.
Delivery mode: Our Assist clients with medications courses on the Sunshine Coast will be delivered via our online with practical assessment mode. This involves most of the learning and assessment being completed online prior to a three-hour face to face practical assessment session in our Birtinya Training Centre.
Group sizes will be small so there will be limited spaces per session. If you are looking to book into this session, please do not wait as spaces could fill.
After successful completion of this course participants will be awarded HLTHPS006 - Assist clients with medication.
There are no pre-requisite requirements for this course.
Training will include:
- Approx. 10 hours of self-paced online learning
- Up to 3-hours of face-to-face assessment at the Allens Training Birtinya Training Centre
