Maintain Chainsaws
Participants undertaking this training in this course will develop the skills and knowledge required by chainsaw operators to maintain engine or electrically operated hand-held chainsaws. It includes sharpening chains and completing routine and frequently required service requirements as well as periodic servicing. Work is completed in a variety of work settings including a forest environment, agricultural, workshop, arboretum and horticultural settings.

+ Course Delivery
This course will be delivered in the workplace or at an Allens Training Pty Ltd or Third party facility.
+ Entry Requirements
- Participants must have the capacity to undertake the physical requirements of the course, for example be able to use tools and equipment to maintain a chainsaw.
- And have reading and writing skills to read instructions and complete fault logs etc.
+ Course Duration
- Face to Face – 4 hours (minimum) full face to face course
+ Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.
+ Certificate Renewal Requirements
No industry recommended renewal is identified on the certificate, employers are recommended to consult with stakeholders to identify appropriate training periods.

- Performance tasks –
- Plan and prepare for service/maintenance activities
- Conduct chainsaw maintenance activities
- Complete maintenance records and clean up
- Documentation – Completion of an equipment fault log.
- Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
