Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without carols – those tunes that range from the catchy, such as Jingle Bells, to the folky, such as Good King Wenceslas, to the sacred, such as Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and the beautiful, such as Silent Night.

You can’t be in a shopping centre on the Sunshine Coast without hearing Bing Crosby Dreaming of a White Christmas, and any one of half a dozen artists doing the Jingle Bell Rock.

All over the Sunshine Coast, there are community carols or carols under the stars. You could start off with Community Carols at Peregian Beach on 11 December from 5pm to 10pm, and enjoy not only the carols but also the food stalls and other entertainment, including a visit from Santa.

December 15 is a popular date for carols. You could go to Coolum (Christmas in the Park), or Kings Beach Amphitheatre, or Nambour Showgrounds (Community Carols), or Beerwah showgrounds (Glasshouse Country Community Carols).

And more on 16 December with Kawana Carols by the Beach, Noosa Carols by Candlelight, and Twin Water Resident’s Association Christmas Carols happening.

So much choice means Sunshine Coast residents should be able to find at least one venue that they can take their families to, to sing along and get into the Christmas spirit.

Remember to stay safe in crowds, and be considerate of others.

And there’s still time to do an Allens Training CPR or first aid course before we close the office on 22 December for the holiday period. We reopen on 2 January 2019, with the first CPR and first aid courses at Allens Training Sunshine Coast scheduled for Monday 7 January 2019.
