What is a USI?
A USI is a reference number made up of numbers and letters. It is an initiative of the Australian Federal Government and creates a secure online record of your nationally recognised training that you can access anytime and anywhere, and it’s yours for life.
Why do I need a USI?
Training organisations can only issue certification when they have received a participants USI so it is important to ensure you get a USI before your First Aid Course.
Having a USI will enable you to get a complete record of your Australian-wide VET achievements from a single, secure and accurate online source. This means that you can quickly give employers, potential employers’ proof of VET achievements.
How do I get a USI?
To apply for your USI visit the governments USI website – www.usi.gov.au. It is a simple process and to find out more watch this video.
I am not an Australian Citizen, do I still need a USI?
YES - Everyone undertaking nationally recognised training needs a USI. If you are in Australia as a student or visitor, you will have been issued an Australia VISA. When you are applying for a USI online you will use the information on your Australia VISA along with your international passport to successfully create your own USI.
