On Thursday 12 January 2017, Allens Training is delivering a Provide Advanced First Aid (HLTAID006) course in our Birtinya Training Centre on the Sunshine Coast. This course is open to the public, and you can secure your spot in the course by booking online or by phoning 07 5438 8888.
Who needs this certificate?
Most employers and workplaces require Provide First Aid (HLTAID003), as this is the most common first aid course. However, certain tertiary study and job positions require people to hold a current Advanced First Aid (HLTAID006) certificate.
The unit applies to workers who may be required to provide, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings. This could include jobs such as rescue workers, lifesavers, ski patrol, and construction site workers.
Advanced First Aid has some elements and performance criteria additional to what is required for HLTAID003 – please see a recent blog on our website for further explanation.
Assessment
Assessment at the end of the course is to show the instructor that you have an appropriate understanding of the procedures necessary to manage a life-threatening situation.
This will consist of a theory assessment and practical demonstrations.
What will I gain?
At the successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a statement of attainment valid for 3 years*. The certificate will contain the following units:
HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid
*Please note that the CPR component of the training is valid for 12 months, and should be updated annually.
