Students and partners from a course last week were lucky to receive
Advanced First Aid training in our Sunshine Coast Training centre by Allens
Training General Manager, Jim Allen.
It was a rare sight to see Jim enticed from the nearest coffee shop to deliver a day of face-to-face training, however he slid back into trainer mode with ease.
The day started off with some phone a friend questions and answers revising the online pre-course component of the course. It was then straight into the practical face-to-face training part of the course.
Scenario after scenario was completed throughout the day as the theory was put into practice, giving the students the confidence to be good first aiders.
So, the questions you are probably asking now is – ‘is Jim a good trainer?’ Well, it is only fair to let the students do the talking. This is some feedback we received in our surveys after the courses:
Q: What did you like most about the course?
A: “The scenarios and knowledge of the trainer” - Student
Q: What did you like most about the course?
A: “I enjoyed being challenged with multiple casualties and working with a team of strangers” - Partner
You ask, what about the scores in the performance rating?
There was consistency in the ratings and comments from experienced trainers as well as students attending their first advanced course, with Jim scoring 3 x 5’s (very good) and the rest of the surveys handed in were all 6’s (excellent).
I can only assume the partners participating in the course gave unbiased assessments as they were consistent with those handed in by other Sunshine Coast students.
